I have always lived by the saying “Do more of what makes you
happy and Eat more what makes you smile”. And this has added to my weight no
doubt but I am great foodie and an ardent traveler. Yes and the name of Fish
makes me happy. Of course being a Bengali myself how can I not like fish. But
staying away from home for almost 7 Years, I have compromised of not having
Fish every day.
And one day I visited
GOA - This is my first time visit to this heaven with family.
Well there is more to Goa than its golden sands , churches
and enticing beaches. Food and drinks are taken very seriously. You’d be amazed
if I tell you that Goan cuisine has more to offer than the quintessential Goan
curry and prawn vindaloo!
With this very agenda in mind, I decided to let loose the foodie in me, and
embark on a gastronomic adventure in this tropical paradise.
We stayed at my father’s office guest house in Panjim city. Wow
Panjim was so beautiful based on side of Mandovi River. It is so serene and
calm with so much less noise and less population. That evening we visited the Mandovi
river side which had huge casinos in giant floating ships on the river.
Panjim city also had some very good restaurants but we
decide to eat our guest house. Yes my urges to eat fish in Goa reached its
zenith when the guest house served us only roti and sabji. Yaaakkk…
Never mind, It was our second day at Goa and we decided to
hire a Car and visit the Anjuna beach. But as hungry I was we decided to eat
our lunch at the sea-side restaurant at Anjuna Beach. [Please don’t ask me the
name I don’t remember.]
And voila,,,, the restaurant actually made us check the fish
before cooking. Aahhh pure bliss in seeing the raw Pomfret and Tiger Prawns.
That was certainly a bliss yet
again.
And in coming two days I ate to my
fullest. Tried the famous Goan Feni and not to miss the famous Prawn curry and Rice.
Ahhhh... I wish I could go to this place every year. I know I went there quite late but as they say "Its never too late when you do the right thing. :)"
